10 things you need to know about Ella’s Closet
Each month I promised to focus on emerging talent across the fashion, music and beauty industry. So i'm going to stick to my promise!
I spotted Ella’s Closet on Twitter last year and immediately fell in love with the brand's edgy customised clothing range, incorporating anything from studs to chains.
For those of you who haven't heard of Ella’s Closet, its a UK online boutique selling customised clothing for both men and women.
I'm delighted Najlaa Jabri, the rising star behind Ella’s Closet has agreed to her first interview with Urban Beauty Said.
Najlaa Jabri graduated from London Fashion College in 2007 and launched Ella’s Closet in 2011. I predict great things for Najlaa, so I want to find out more about the woman behind the brand.
.
Hi Najlaa, thanks for taking the time out to be interviewed by Urban Beauty Said. How did you get into the fashion industry? Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to get into the industry?
Hi Nicola, I've always liked fashion so I attended the London College of Fashion on a BTEC ND diploma for two years, before graduating from a fashion design technology course specialising in surface textiles.I would suggest anyone wanting to get into the fashion industry should do a foundation course to figure out what area they want to get into and do lots of internships, as experience counts for a lot.
How and when did you start Ella’s Closet?
I started Ella’s Closet after seeing a gap in the market, where people couldn’t or didn’t have time to customise their own clothing, so we at Ella’s Closet can do anything you see on our Facebook page from dying to applique or even embroidery and print. We provide unique clothing at a reasonable price.

- Is it expensive to have something customised by Ella’s Closet? No not at all, our prices start from £5.00 and up wards. Depending on what you want, we always try to keep our costs down as much as possible, to make our customising affordable. We provide customising for both men and women and ship worldwide. All you need to do is ask for an estimate.

What gives you inspiration for your designs?
I am inspired by everything, coming from a textiles background I love to mix different textiles together creating something unique, like in life when you mix different elements together.

What has been your proudest moment in the fashion industry?
There have been so many I couldn’t possibly say, but the journey is what counts.
What is your favourite high street fashion brand?
Zara no doubt, as it mixes edgy designs with classic shapes.
Who is your favourite fashion designer?
For couture it would have to be Alexander McQueen and for ready to wear it’s Balmain. I love the textiles used by both fashion houses and their imagination.
Who is your favourite music artist at the moment?
I don’t really have a favourite music artist but I like Adele and I’m listening to a lot of film soundtracks. But for style, I would say Gwen Stefani, as she owns every look she wears.
Gwen looking great as always
So what are you working on at the moment and what’s next for Ella’s Closet?
At the moment I'm working on launching the sister label to Ella’s Closet called Isabella’s Closet, it’s mostly reworked vintage lace and fabric to create one off creations of a more boho feel, very Sienna Miller and Florence Welch.
Well we look forward to hearing more about Isabella's Closet, in the mean time, before we finish our interview, how can our readers get in touch with you or buy items from Ella’s Closet?
